Two weeks ago, I was in charge of story time. Since, all of our school age children are back in school, we have had to simplify story time. During the summer, I could read two or three books and do an artistic craft because most of the kids were a little bit older, but now we have mostly babies. This means that we usually read one book and do a visual activity, or a small craft with stickers and crayons. The kids then pull all the toys out of the toy box and play while the adults sit around and talk.
Since we were quickly approaching Halloween, I decided the theme would be nocturnal animals. Jeremy drew out a template of a bat, I made 10 copies, used stickers for the eyes, and crayons for the coloring part. I read a book called Whooo's There? It is a book that was given to me by the school counselor (Charlene Harbin) at the school I used to work at. It was very simple, but we had a great time!
The book
The art
The stickers
Jeremy stepped out of his office for a few minutes to come spend some time with us at story time! I was so lucky because it was time to feed Ava her bottle and I couldn't! Here she is relaxing like Cleopatra!
Natalie and Canyon enjoy story time as well!
Nora, Cooper, and Aubrey play with toys after it is all over
The finished product
Ava is oblivious and continues to nurse her bottle!
Caleb is a big boy and feeds himself (Caleb is 3 days younger than Ava)
All finished!!
Luke makes a silly face after a particularly sour drink of his punch!
Drinking up the last bit of her bottle
Lauren plays with a baby doll and a purse
James Cole has had enough of the bat!!
Finally finished with her bottle! To top of a great time, Ava plays with Mommy's keys! (her favorite thing!)
