I started The Pate Potpourri when my oldest child was about 6 months old. I was (and still am) a stay-at-home-mom trying to find a creative outlet for my hobbies. I LOVE to write. I also love to design. A blog is a great way to combine the two things. I can write about my life, my loves, and my LORD while also being in complete control of how the blog looks and functions.
June 2013 will be two whole years that I have been at it. So much has happened in my life in that short time period and all of it is recorded on my blog. My goal is to have everything printed into a book to be passed down to my children on their respective Sweet Sixteenth Birthdays. I want them to have a record of their childhood and the silly things we do. I also want them to know and understand the things I think NOW. They are too young to grasp the intensity and passion behind my thoughts, so my hope is that they will look back at this project and understand the love behind it. I hope my blog conveys that to them.
Lastly, it is really hard to live apart from the family that raised you (no matter what degree of crazy they are, we still miss them) :) In my family's case, we are split between Texas and Tennessee. I came from Texas and my family still lives there. Jeremy was raised in Tennessee, so his family still resides there. The Pate Potpourri has been a great way to keep us all connected. With small children, I don't always have time to talk on the phone. This blog keeps everyone updated on what we do, where we go, and how we dress (Sorry, I had to add that last part) :)
My only regret about blogging is that I didn't do it sooner. There is so much about my pregnancy with Ava that is not recorded. The first six months of her life are not recorded. I hate that. One of my prayers is that God will allow me to keep my memory so I can share those experiences with her one day.
I would encourage anyone who values memories to have a blog. Yes, it does take time. But, once you figure out the basics, it is really easy. It is also possible to blog from your mobile device. If you have any questions about blogging, please feel free to leave a question in the comment box. I would be more than happy to answer any questions. If I don't know the answer, I will always tell you, "I don't know." :) Happy Blogging!!
