Manhattan

On the last full day of our trip, we had a day to relax and enjoy the city. We took our time getting ready and took the J train into the city. We had a little bit of a scare on the subway the night before. We were almost at our destination when the subway stopped and the conductor came over the intercom and yelled, "Security Police, Security Police, to the platform now!" I looked around and everyone looked calm, so I didn't get to bent out of shape. Our hostesses told us the next day that that was very uncommon and they were scared. They kept their cool so we would be calm. Yikes!

Our first stop was the Brooklyn Bridge. It was beautiful!! Much of it was under construction, but we still walked across and saw the Manhattan Bridge and all the combination locks that couples professing their love for each other put on the cables of the bridge.

 Freedom Tower

We wanted to ride the ferris wheel inside the Toys R Us so bad! We just didn't have enough time!

We ate dinner at the Stardust Diner in Times Square. Our whole group took up about 6 tables on the second level. The waiters and waitresses are Broadway stars who are out of work or are looking to become a star. They sing while they wait on your table. It was really neat. The best part of the trip to this restaurant was when Sweet Home Alabama came on. Our whole section sang the whole song complete with "Roll Tide Roll," when appropriate. :) Fun times!

This last picture is from the Islip Airport. I had a total of 2 hrs of sleep the night before. I don't really remember why I took this picture but it serves as a reminder to get some sleep! :)
