A Pirate, A Parrot, And A Pick-Up Line?

D'Atra Montgomery is our "adopted" daughter. We have no official paperwork to say that she is ours, but she is :) She has been back in Tuscaloosa this week while on Spring Break from Troy University. While she has been back, she has been filling us in on everything that has been happening in her life. I am going to slightly embarrass her by posting this, but I honestly think that she will laugh! Actually, I know she will laugh because I asked her permission before I posted this :)

A few weeks ago, a male co-worker of hers asked if she would like to come over to his apartment for her birthday party. He said he was going to invite some friends over and they could watch some TV and celebrate. She agreed and was really excited. When she arrived at his apartment, no one was there except this male friend and his two roommates. She was kind of surprised, but played along. They all four went out to dinner and then decided to go back to the apartment to watch a movie. It ended up that D and this friend were the only two to go back to watch the movie.

They sat on the couch and the guy asked if they could share a blanket. D said, "no." (YAY!! Go D!!) He then asked her if he could kiss her. D said, "thank you for asking because if you had tried to just kiss me without permission, I would have punched you in the face. But, no." (YAY!! Go D, again!!) Not wanting to give up, the guy then said, "if you were a pirate, where would your parrot be?" He then placed his arm around her shoulder and asked, "would it be here?'' WOW!!!! What a pick-up line!!! The guy said that his sister told him to never use that line and D'Atra said, "you should have listened to your sister." D'Atra shut him down!!! GOOD GIRL!!!

I wanted to share this with Ava and Greta because they will hopefully shut down some boys one day (until Mr. Right comes along) Girls, your mom may not be there to tell you how to do it and your dad may not have his shotgun ready, so when in doubt, listen to your big sister D'Atra!! She is a PRO!!

For those of you who thought this post was actually about a parrot, here is a photo of two:

I wouldn't want to disappoint anyone!! :-P Sorry, no pictures of pirates at this time!
