At her appointment yesterday morning, she weighed 23.3 lbs and measured 30.25 inches long. Her head was 48 cm in circumference. I don't know the percentile on her head, but she is 50th percentile in both weight and height. She has moved up in her height percentile because she has consistently been in the 25th. That is quite a big jump! Maybe she will be a little taller than me when she is fully grown. She was projected to be about 5 feet tall (the same short height as me!) It will be interesting to see if she continues in the 50th percentile or if she goes back to the 25th.

Everything looked really good at her appointment. She has met and exceeded all the normal growth indicators. I was a little concerned about her left foot because it seemed to turn slightly inward. Although I realize that most children's legs straighten out over time, Jeremy wore a brace when he was a baby. I wanted the dr. to check it out to make sure. It could have been hereditary. Luckily, her feet and hips are completely normal.

Here are some things that Ava is saying and doing:

  • She has added two new words to her ever expanding vocabulary: "ball" and "baby"
  • Her favorite words are still "mommy" and "NO!"
  • She pretty much runs everywhere she goes
  • She will say "ahh" after she takes a drink (really cute)
  • She can follow several commands: "shut the door," "push it back," (the tray in the center of our ottoman) "take a drink," "come here," and "let's go outside." She actually runs to the backdoor and starts banging on the glass.
  • She can respond to several different questions: "Where's your cup?" "Where's Grossy?"
  • If she doesn't know the answer to a question, she will put her arms up like, "I don't know."
  • She participates really well in her Bible class. The teachers keep me updated on all the things she does.
  • If I tell Ava "NO, NO," she will repeat and point to the object that I am telling her to stay away from.
  • She is all the way on a sippy cup this month!! YAY!! I just decided to put away her bottle one day and she did fine.
  • She wears a size 4 diaper and 18 month clothes. Clothes vary, though. She still has some 9 month clothes and some 12 month clothes that she wears.
  • She now has 12 teeth! Three molars decided to come in at one time and then another one is coming in this week! Poor baby has been in pain!!
  • She has attempted to say two multi-syllabic words: "dinosaur" (disor) "pacifier" (patsitsit)
I probably forgot some things, but I figure it will all get posted one way or the other!
