Halloween 2012

Since Halloween fell on a Wednesday, our church decided to hold our Trunk-or-Treat on the Sunday evening before Halloween. I wish that I was the type of person who really got into Halloween and came up with creative costumes. It looks so cute when a child has on a really unique costume. Maybe one year I will surprise myself.

For 2012, Ava was Minnie Mouse and Greta was a baby elephant. Even though their costumes where not entirely original, they still looked cute! Not only that, but the costumes were free :) The Minnie Mouse costume was given to Ava as a big sister gift from the Thompson family in Columbia, TN. And the Crowe family at church gave us the elephant costume.

Greta did not like her costume at all. The little hood with her trunk and elephant ears agitated her. She arched her back and threw a fit until I finally slipped it off. She was much better after that! :) Ava did really well in her costume. It was chilly outside so we put on pants under her dress. Halloween was no fuss!

Playdate In The Mall

This was in October (hence the Halloween attire) :) It is the simple things in life that are the most fun! Ava had a great time throwing pennies into the fountain and swiping her hand through the water. Greta slept in the stroller and Jeremy and I just tagged along behind.

Tuscaloosa Barnyard

I am not sure when these pictures were taken, but it was back in the fall. We attended a birthday party for Kate Farmer at the Tuscaloosa Barnyard. There was no possible way to take pictures of everyone's children because there were so many and they were spread out everywhere. So, I just tried to focus on my own children. Ava had a lot of fun playing with and feeding all the baby animals. We may have to make this trip again with just our family :)

All of the above photos were taken by me. My friend Terri took several pictures and with her permission, I am adding them to this post. Her camera is much better than mine so her photos will make mine look like I took them with a disposable! Ha! :)

Baby Shower For Amanda Terry

Several months ago, Peyton, Jamie, Judy and I planned a baby shower for Neal and Amanda Terry's upcoming arrival of Axel Neal Terry. As of now, Baby Axel has already made his entrance into the world and he is a little over a month old (and he is gorgeous too!) We had the shower at my house and stuck to blues and yellows for decorations. Jamie bought some cute little rubber duckies to place on the cake and the punch. We had a HUGE turnout! I don't believe that I have ever had that many people in my house at one time! It was loud and fun and my babies slept right through it all :) Congratulations to Amanda and Neal!

From The Mouths Of Babes...

My first post of 2013 is actually about a moment on the last day of 2012 :) I posted about this moment on my facebook status earlier today but needed to write it down in our family history book (this blog)

Ava is going through a Disney Princess phase right now. She loves all the princesses! She knows most of their names but occasionally needs to be reminded of who they are. Earlier, she brought me a picture of three Disney princesses: Ariel (whom she calls Mermaid), Cinderella (Cine-wewa), and Aurora (whom she doesn't recognize) She pointed to Sleeping Beauty (Aurora aka Briar Rose) and asked me who she was. I said, "Sleeping Beauty." Ava repeated, "Seek-a-booty." Jeremy and I laughed so hard! I am still laughing inside! :)

I have to say that this is my favorite stage in Ava's speech development. First words are cute, but this is so much better!
